Llantrisant Forest - 8th Feb
Well done to all who took part in our latest event at Llantrisant Forest on 8th February. The rain cleared just in time for the early starters, and competitors were then treated to some fabulous courses exploring (and hopefully not getting too lost in) some lovely areas of woodland.

Club Awards
While at the Llantrisant event, Dougie Innes-Farr was presented with his trophy for SWOC Best Junior 2025. Congratulations to Dougie who continues to impress, coming a very close second on the green course on the day.

Winter MapRun Series
The winter MapRun series is now approaching its conclusion. Following the recent well-attended Rhiwbina event on 11th Feb, only two events now remain: Wed 11th March: Newport - Based on preliminary details this looks to be a particularly adventurous outing, taking us out of the city and into the hilly, more rural areas to the north of Newport. A good torch and grippy footwear will be essential! Wed 11th April: Canton - Back to the streets for what will no doubt be a speedy course around the flatlands of Canton in west Cardiff. A fitting way to end the series!
British Relays Championships - 1st March
You may have heard that SWOC is organising this year’s British Relays Championships in Margam Park on 1st March. This is a major national event and requires a lot of help from volunteers. If you think you would be able to help out in any way at all, even just for an hour or two, please do get in touch (email swoc.contact@gmail.com).

28th February - British Long Distance Championships
Swansea Bay Orienteering Club are putting on this years British Long Distance Championships at Carreg Goch (Swansea Valley area) on 28th Feb (the day before SWOC hosts the Relays). Entries close on 14th Feb so get them in quickly if you want to take part (however there may be entries on the day for some colour coded courses). North Gloucester Orienteering Club have kindly taken on the organising and planning of this event on behalf of SWOC while we focus on the British Relays Championships. The Merthyr Mawr dunes are a fantastic area for orienteering, and competitors are sure to have a great day out in the sand!
